Many of my stories have a strong element of social justice. It Will Be Quick is a good example of that.

Well, I have a short-run Kickstarter for my next book, UESI. And, as ever, it is about many things that are important to me.

UESI is about a calculator gaining sentience. But also about workers developing social consciousness, and instigating a revolution. And about evolution, from a simple lifeform to complex, almost god-like power. And about resisting authority. And … And …

As an aside, one of my father’s favourite films was The Great Escape. I have memories of watching it with him. He was killed when I was young, so the memories have an extra fierceness. And I think, somewhere in my subconscious, I always wanted to write my own version about an escape from an impossible prison.
