I write a lot. You’ll get to know most of my interests through the growing archive of posts. Although many are about my pledges and the Green Party manifesto, including my About page and statement, some touch on personal issues. Here are a few examples:
I’ve been campaigning on social and environmental issues since I was a teenager (I went vegan when I was 19). I was also a local contact for the Vegetarian Society UK 1993-1999. At university I was on the Environmental Committee, and we had a number of successes.
For over a decade I ran an Aberystwyth group called CIN – Caredig I Natur. We were involved with everything from campaigning for town centre regeneration to preserving green spaces; objecting to wildlife culls to promoting cycling. Then at weekends I taught aikido (a Japanese martial art) and ran the university aikido club.
We need change. The status quo is leading us into endless wars, violence, ecocide, greed and injustice. But there are huge barriers to change, put in place by the powerful, rich, and vested interests. It is going to be a difficult battle. The biggest English parties will keep destroying all that is good (at varying rates) and lead us into disaster.
I Am Also An Author!
That’s my main job. I have a Substack newsletter you can sign up to called Karl Drinkwater’s Words & Worlds and a website listing all my books at karldrinkwater.uk. If you feel like reading some poems or stories by my writer friends or myself, there is a good selection in the Friday Fiction list.
The other day I launched my latest Kickstarter, which is a collaborative work with an author in Denmark. If you’d like to know more about it, or possibly back it, here’s the link.
So if you see me in a pub with a pile of paperwork around my pint, you’ll know that I’m just working on my next book. Iechyd da!
